Paypal lick my nuts

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

A few days ago I helped a friend set up a fresh gmail account, godaddy account, hosting, and paypal account, so he could manage his own domain name. When he went to pay for the domain of course, and tried to pay through paypal, it would only let him pay by credit card.

I had already sent enough to his account to cover the domain, but apparently he can only use the account if he has a credit card. WHY ? He chose paypal because he doesn’t have a credit card. If he wanted to pay that way he would have done so on the site without using paypal.

Their customer support sent an email that basically said a credit card is his only option to actually use the account. Useless.

Google “Earth” is Amazing !

I just downloaded it and started testing, even though I’m on dial up, and I’m astounded. I could search out cities quite easily though I had to manually locate local cities… Zooming in on melbourne it was easy to spot Melbourne Central, Telstra Dome, and the Crown complex.

I looked for my own house but unfortunately it’s under a big cloud :P

StoopidNews.com Sold !

Sunday, May 15th, 2005

I hadn’t updated stoopidnews in a long time (months) so I was a bit surprised when I was emailed a few days ago with an offer to buy the domain. $200 USD through Paypal was offered, and I accepted. It’s not a lot, but for a domain I no longer update… the money can be used elsewhere to more effrect hopefully.

All Sorts

Just posting here to relive some frustration, as I’ve been outbid on two domain names. Ebay isn’t too bad these days, and I bid on netcrave.com which I was outbid on and lost while I was asleep last night. Ended at $36 USD and I probably would have bid a little higher for it ! I’ve just bid up to $21 for photoshoptools.com and someone is still higher than me so I’m about to give up. Not as nice a name as netcrave anyway.

I made a little money last weekend, I tried betting with gamebookers on a tip I recieved, and amazingly I won. I only came out $5 ahead, but it’s something. This weekend I’ll try betting on some AFL games to boost my balance a little further. I started with $10, I’m up to $15.70 already. Hopefully I can boost it higher every weekend till it’s worth withdrawing the cash.

In other news… Not much is happening. Classes are rocking along smoothly and I’m getting work done. Not all of it, but I’m not massively behind as usual. Hopefully I’ll pass this year ok :)
