Casual Nerd

My usual day at work involves mostly collecting dishes, washing up, and some food preparation. Today was the best day of all since i started, about three weeks agi. Why ?

I got to make kiss biscuits. Now I know that doesn’t sound too special, but you should see the filling. You know the strawberry jam that holds the two halves together ? It’s the stickiest, sweetest thing I have ever come across. Best of all, it comes it ten litre buckets :p

Then, they get coated with a delicious lemon icing, and dipped in hundreds and thousands. I spent half an hour making them, and it had to be the easiest work ever.

Took the car in early this morning to get the brakes checked, they were squeeking and more recently grinding. They rang me with some news… and it’s all bad. Basically, the rear cylinders and front pads need replacing. They had already replaced a leaking front flex hose and cleaned some dirt from the rear brakes. They said the squeeking would probably go away once thefront pads were replaced, but there was nothing they could do about the grinding.

Well I picked it up and the grinding is gone ! No idea why, but the squeeking has almost ceased too. They didn’t even charge me for the time they spent today

Took a few hours tonight to sleep till about 8pm before getting online again. I’m pretty refreshed, and hopefully it’ll get me through the next few hours as I prepare some design work. I have a lot of ideas for the project at hand, but many elements I have never used before.

Hopefully it turns out somewhat like the sketches I have sitting on my desk in front of me.

I have so much work to do I can’t even bring myself to get started I have a few interface design projects on the go, and they are a little fun, but also half a dozen written assignments that are really tiring.

I also have work at 6.30 am tomorrow morning, and I’m not looking forward to it. The work is easy and I work with great people, but getting up that early is really tiring. Of course tomorrow should be pay day… Once I have some more food in the cupboard it should be easier to get out of bed.

I’m celebrating the MSN search engine too, after it suddenly picked up some of my free hosted blogs. Simple keywords but ok rankings for a few hundred extra hits a day. It’s only a few dollars a day at this stage, but it shows I’m on the right track at least.

Saturday afternoon, and I’ve finished work. Finished early in fact, as there weren’t too many customers this morning. Had coffee with family and now it’s relaxing time at home. Full day off tomorrow too, but I had better get some class work done somewhere along the way.

Last night we went to Hobart for the Trainee awards night, unfortunately she didn’t win, but the competition looked tight. It was a real shame to go all that way and not stay more than a few hours, might be time for a holiday soon.
